Nefa-Aria

I've had a recent urge to learn some digital art techniques so I've done a few practice pieces.  It has been good to put this tablet to work!  My boyfriend gave to to me a few years ago and has always been sad that I have not fully utilized it.

I am hoping to push myself to have a more regular art-making schedule.  Right now it is pretty sporadic but I am planning to do some more final fantasy xi portraits or re-visiting old sketches.

I've had some issues with self-confidence lately so hopefully I can get over that to produce more work.

In terms of actual work - I start a contract job on Thursday.  It's pretty exciting as it is actually in the field I studied in.  Hopefully this'll bridge into something longer term.

It has my old art at the moment but working on posting up to the current stuff.

I'll try to draw more! No promises though.  I'm trying to find a new job so I'm hoping that I can find something full-time soon.

I'm really excited!  ArenaNet announced that the sylvari will be a playable race in the next Beta Weekend event.  This means I'll get time to do some awesome character creation test runs before the game is fully released!  I already warned my playing partner that this may take hours of work to make sure my look is perfect~

If you poke around my page you'll have noticed I've released a bunch of sylvari lately.  Since I enjoy flowers, I've been enjoying exploring ideas and colours.  No, the necromancer isn't a sylvari but she's done in the same style so I threw her in! XD

I plan to do a few/many more of them, just need some time and ideas.  Haven't nailed down what I want to do next.  I don't know what my sylvari ranger will eventually look like so doing prep drawings of her is a bad idea until I get my hands on the character creator ingame...

I have however, figured out how to put deviation thumbnails into deviations/journals/notes so I plan to update works in my gallery as appropriate with them instead of links... always trying to make the place more spiffy!

However, I've noticed, on my journey through the postings of new art to the site that there is a trend to post... fanart of that pony show.  I don't know what it is about that show - but it gets me so mad.  I usually have to filter the front page so I don't see categories that have this art style.  I can't even explain why it causes me to rage so much.  I don't mind the sonic fanart spectrum, or pokemon, furries, whathaveyou, just ponies make me rage.

I guess I could also go for less nudity, since some of the works just seem like a glorified facebook photo where the individual isn't wearing clothes, therefore.. its art! But... not really.  There are some really good nude photographers on the site, but I guess everyone has to start somewhere.... I just wish I didn't have to filter the front page postings all the time.  I feel like I'm missing out on good work.

I'll keep doing more art and try to keep improving!  I think I've seen some progress lately...
